Summer~My Favorite

Hola!  So for some reason, I felt like updating my xanga today.  That hasn't happened in a long time!!  It's summer, my last day of work was last Thursday, I feel relieved.  Yay for being a teacher.

Here are some things I already love about this summer:
~Sunshine and warmth
~A "new-to-me" house
~Lunch with my husband whenever we want (like today we had free chick-fil-a)
~Being able to have more than 30 min. for lunch
~Running into old friends and spending time with newer ones
~Running errands during the daytime
~Seeing the two most precious nephews in the world (and seeing their wonderful parents)
~Staying up late because I can sleep in
~Feeling productive just being at home
~Anticipating spending more time with family and friends

I feel so blessed.
What are you excited about this summer!  I hope it's a refreshing one for you.

So excited!!! We got internet at our place. I'm glad, but now will probably be getting less done because of it. It's really neat, because on the Wii you can get on the internet too. It's easier on the computer, but on the Wii you can download the old Nintendo games, fun fun.
Pretty sure yesterday I played Wii sports for an hour or two after work yesterday. I played tennis, golf, baseball, and boxing. I'm pretty sure all of that made me sore. I woke up this morning thinking I must have slept wrong or something. Nope, it was from boxing. At least maybe I burned a few calories, so maybe the soreness was worth it.
Birthday celebrations have begun. We had February birthday cakes at work and I got a gift from Marla in the mail. Fun, fun!
Well, my hubby is on his way home, so I better get a couple things done before then.

Have a great night!

February

Hey hey! I'm in Keller visiting. Matt is at the Passion Conference in the DFW area. He's been at it all day, so I've spent a lot of bonding time with the parents. I did a little shopping too~why is shopping so much better here than in LR!? It's like I always find great sales when I'm here~maybe just b/c there's more stuff.
Matt and I don't have internet at our apartment, so I find it easier to update when I'm here. One day we'll get the internet...who knows when. :)
Things are going great!! Matt started a new job in the middle of January. It was such a God thing that he got it, and it has continued to be such a blessing. His boss has been really encouraging~I'm so proud of my husband. He's been busy the last couple of weeks, but tons less stressed than his old job. He gets off earlier, and we've gotten to spend more time with each other. Makes us both very happy. :)
I probably always say this, but it's a hard time of year to teach...all the students are just tired and unmotivated. Monday is President's Day, so I'm off. And spring is coming, so I'll have some more awake, hyper students soon. :) One thing I like about my job is having students from all over the state. Since I have small town schools, some of my students have the most wonderful "red neck" accents...so trying to get them to speak Spanish is fun or maybe I mean funny!
Well, that's all for now. I'm need to wrap some birthday gifts.

Abrazos,
Jess

Real quick post!!

Exams are coming up, which means I will get a break soon!!  Yay for that...but this time of year is hard to teach during...everyone (including me) is ready for a break and getting very merry and antsy.

Tonight (Sat. morning really) we have some sort of a "lock-in" with the youth.  From 12AM to 7AM!!!  We will go bowling, go ice skating (broom ball), and have big blow-up jumpy things at the church. Youth leaders have (I mean GET) to go.  Which is fine, except I like sleep...and my hard-working husband doesn't get enough sleep during the week and needs to catch up on the weekends!  So...we'll get home about 7:15ish AM and have to be at "Christmas" with Matt's family at his cousins house by noon.  She just lives 30 min. away, but still...we are going to be exhausted!  I have to wrap gifts and prepare salad before then too!  Should be an exciting 24 hours!!  I just don't want to be grumpy and boring around the family-in-laws.  :)

Matt is heading to Chicago next Fri.  I'm joining him Thurs. when I get off work.  I am so excited....except it is going to be sooooo cold.  (not a big fan of cold weather).

That's all for now.

LOVE, Jess

An Update? Yah!

DSC_0614 DSC_0477 DSC_0462

Just a few engagement pics. my bff Julie took of us.  We're silly.  :)  The last one is my fav!!!

Well, I don't know what came over me, but I decided to update...after 6 months.  So short and sweet...

~07-07-07 I became Jessica Ramsey and am so blessed to be married to such a wonderful man!  YAY!
~07-27-07 I became an AUNT again to a wonderful healthy (and now very chubby) Owen
(July was a very eventful and amazing month)
~Still teaching Spanish...enjoying it.  Of course it has it's challenges, but I really do love teaching
~Matt started grad-school in August--that has definitely kept him (and me) busy...he's enjoying it and seems to be learning a lot.  I really am amazed at how hard he works.  I mean...after an 8-hr. workday, I want to come home and do nothing...he comes home after a long day of work and school, and just keeps working on school.
~We are still working with the youth at church...Matt with 8th grade guys, me with 11th girls.  We have lots of fun being around them!
~We also are in an "adult" small group now...with mostly newlyweds...that's been really good and I'm praying for continual bonding with everyone.
~We are heading to my parents house for Thanksgiving tomorrow...and are so excited.  We love being with all my sibs and 'rents (as my lil' sis would say).  I laugh so much when we all get together.  Praise God for a family that functions normallly and loves and gets along with each other.
~So thankful for a break from work and a chance to just get out of routine.

Who knows when I will get a whim to post again...I just wondered if anyone actually checks my site.  I guess I'll find out.  :)

Thanks for reading,
Jessica
